Known in the yoga community as a Master Teacher, Glenn Black has an inspiring, no-nonsense style of teaching that comes from more than 50 years of intensive study of yoga, movement, and therapeutic bodywork.
He completed the fifty-three Self-realization lessons of Paramahansa Yogananda when he was only twenty years old. He is also a longtime student of Kriya Yoga founded in the Self-Realization teachings of Yogananda. In the late 1970's Black spent two years studying with Swami Vikekananda of the Bihar School who instructed him in Swami Sivananda's Kriya practice. Like the legendary “forest yogis” of ancient times, Black has spent many years of intensive practice in solitude.
Black went to India in 1987 to study with B.K.S. Iyengar and continues to integrate the therapeutic principles of Iyengar Yoga into his teaching. His studies also include decades of involvement with Yogi Ramacharaka's books on Raja, Hatha and Gnani Yoga.
After twenty years as a massage therapist he apprenticed with Shmuel Tatz, creator of Body Tuning® for seven years & is the only person certified to teach the sophisticated “bodywork”. This system specializes in treating pain and issues with range of motion. Black’s clients include many top music, sports, and business celebrities. These two professions combine to offer simple and practical ways for instilling mental and physical health.
In this workshop, Glenn will teach how to experience and control prana to calm and balance the Sympathetic and Parasympathetic Nervous Systems. He will guide students through the process of Yoga Nidra into deeper states of relaxation and profound awareness. When the condition of Yoga Nidra is achieved then the body and mind are no longer obstacles to the attainment of the higher stages of Yoga. The usual patterns and habits of mind and body no longer limit Consciousness & the true meaning of withdrawal of sense attachment, concentration and meditation can be experienced.
Glenn will provide ample time to practice Yoga Nidra & to delve into this new space of consciousness. Included in this study will be a Kriya Yoga technique called Chaturtha Pranayama. This is a meditation which includes breathing, mantra and chakra rotation. It continues the process of taking the student into states of Consciousness that enable travel to other dimensions of space and time.
As always Glenn leads everyone through precise Human Movement. Over the five decades of Yoga practice and manual manipulation of the body, he can precisely find the correct way to enhance, with safety, each participants physical ability to move in isolation each muscle and joint. Movement is essential in preparing the body and mind for Yoga Nidra and Kriya practice.

- Learning: Removing deep seated mental issues
Although not necessary, experience in meditation and involvement in a physical discipline would assist the practices in bringing about desired effects.
